PILATES FOUR - WEEK INTRODUCTION COURSE

The most talked about workout regime today. The ‘Pilates method’ was developed in the 1920’s by the legendary physical trainer and founder of the Pilates studio, Joseph Pilates.

Ahead of its time when it was originated 70 years ago, this resistance control exercise programme produces results without boring repetition or "marathon" workouts.

Pilates is a unique form of simple, precise and effective exercise, gentle on the body but providing amazing benefits. It focuses on breathing to help execute smooth controlled and flowing movement.

Pilates is about movements which helps your muscles work for you in everyday activities. It combines mental conditioning with physical training, working from the inside out. It can also provide the following benefits.

• Improve posture
• Increase muscular strength and flexibility
• Improve coordination and awareness
• Generally achieve a good fitness level and muscle tone
• Firm and flatten the Abdominal Muscles

 

The Mat workout concentrates on strengthening the stabilising muscles of the trunk improving posture. The sessions are suitable for all ages and levels of fitness especially if you have experienced back pain or injury to your spine.

Unlike other classes it takes a minimum of four weeks to understand and learn the principles of the Pilates technique and needs full commitment from the participant, this is why we teach it as a course 

A Health Screening Questionnaire will be given out to all participants, please complete and return to the instructor by the first session. Once you have completed the six-week course you can progress to the Level one, two and three that will be running parallel to the beginner’s classes.

Please wear loose comfortable clothing and socks and bring a small towel. Shoes or trainers should not be worn.

For those of you unfamiliar with some of the above principles, please remember to leave your preconceptions behind you, be patient, because when approaching something new like Pilates the mind and body need to adjust and need time to understand new principles.

 


MEN ONLY PILATES FOUR WEEK COURSE
A tailored course to suit the needs of the male form,
focusing on improving range of movement and muscle flexibility as well as strengthening and streamlining the abdominal muscles.

PILATES LEVEL 1, 2 AND 3
Once you have completed your four week beginners course
the natural progression is into level 1 where you will continue to practise the fundamentals but also learn some of the ‘Classical’ exercises. Level 2 uses the fundamentals as preparation but focuses more on the challenging ‘Classical’ Pilates exercises and Level 3 is a more advanced class.

PILATES WITH CHI BALL
Rhythm, balance, deep stretching, Pilates core conditioning, and postural alignment are the ingredients for this unique class. The Chi-ball, a small ball impregnated with Aromatherapy oils to help calm and focus the mind and instil self confidence is the focal point for this class. The combination of rhythmic movements, balance and core conditioning helps improve your quality of movement and leaves you with and upright re energised body and a sense
of well-being.

PRE AND POSTNATAL PILATES
These classes are specially designed to get your figure back after birth. Once you have had your six - week check you and baby can come along and start focusing on re aligning the spine, strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, toning the abdominal muscles and burning off the excess fat.

The personal training studio offers:
• One to one training  – individually designed programmes for people who have a specific goal or busy schedule and need more flexibility in training times.
A tailor made training session to improve your muscular strength, length and mobility. 

• Small groups – groups of three to six people with one instructor, providing a more personalised service using the Reformer equipment.
